Hope you´re all doing alright......First up, let me add my congrats to Paul & Rachel Morgan on the birth of their new bouncing baby boy.. My sis in law also gave birth to a baby boy on Sunday morning.... It´s the time of the year, I guess...... Myself I´m recuperating at the moment after having an hernia op last Friday and bloody sore it is too. Obviously not as painful as giving birth but painful enough for this fragile soul..... Anyway, I heard that Julianne (Regan) recently asked her ppl what cover versions they would like to hear her perform. Well, as I don´t have an original thought of my own (according to some people) I thought I´d do the same and ask you lot what cover versions you would you like to hear me have a go at maybe for future recording or live solo shows......I´ll start the ball rolling.....how about ´Nights In White Satin´? Cheers, Wayne |

great to hear from you Wayne !
It would be fantastic hear you sing any song in Spanish or Portuguese, but maybe you are too lazy for that, so I suggest "Find The River", a beautiful R.E.M. song
BTW: which are the plans for these songs ?...a new record ?...a new solo tour ? |

Hmmm.. Now I want to dig out the parody I... ah.. participated in 'birthing' years ago, I have it here somewheres... 'Nights in Black Leather'. (This is not a family friendly site, is it??)
I have to think about this for a bit.

Been listening to Johnny Cash (live in Austin 1994) lately. Some of that stuff is amazing (and old too - so mostly royalty-free).

"Find the river", that was my first thought as well Rod Or "Country feedback"
Radiohead`s "Creep"
or what about Nirvana`s / Dylan`s / Grateful Dead`s "Where did you sleep last night" or Bowie`s "Man who sold the world"?
But speaking of cover versions: Any chance to hear your duet with Julianne, recorded for the Jules et Jim album of cover versions? Jules et Jim are no more, so will it ever see the light of the day?
Get well soon!

Take care of yourself Wayne.. They told me that you were a little bit ill
Covers... just a question: why so many? I mean.. you have sufficient talent to compose your own music!!! It seems like (I think) that with so many covers, you don´t believe in yourself...If I go to your concert, it's because I like your your music and what comes out of your head.
Anyway...a song by Frank Sinatra would be nice. I love them
I miss you I need you, I love Mish

Some very interesting and not very obvious choices there and one or two I´m not familiar with so will dig them out and take a listen but certainly all suggestions worthy of at least consideration..... Bjork, I love, 10cc and Í´m not in love´- nice, I just loooovvveee Johnny Cash, Radiohead´s ´Creep´ interestingly I have been considering the Hollies ´The Air That I Breathe...:), ´We Are The Dead´is a great song from my fave Bowie album, et al.....By the way, Weebs, who recorded ´love´reign o´er me´? Can I be pedantic and ask you all to include the artist who has recorded the song so if I don´t know it I may find it easier to find without spending hours on Youtube or Deezer or suchlike? Ta la´s...... Hey, and Kim, yeah, the Moody Blues are shit but ´Nights....´is a fine song and I´m asking for song suggestions here, not the merits of particular bands and artists, although early Fleetwood Mac is ace......and ´Man Of The World´ is a song you and I have talked about many times before, non, and I did already have that on my own short list......anyway, you and I never did particularly share the same music taste, did we?... I seem to remember endless arguements we had when I lived with you......:) P.S. By the way, those of you with the inclination could listen to Andrew Collins radio show on BBC6 this coming Friday as yours truly is doing a phone interview - they´re calling me at midday UK time. I think you may be interested to hear what exactly this cover version thing is all about and you´ll also find out what is happening with the duet I recorded with Julianne..... |
