Bah humbug

Don't give up on Birmingham stormfairy! The O2 academy is dead easy to find, it's not in the city centre but just a little outside (less than half a km) and there's plenty of parking in streets and many small car parks nearby. And you won't have to pay the £8 NEC parking fee! It's also less than a km away from New St station if travelling by train and there's a very reasonably priced hotel nearby. I can provide you with info if needed. Oh - and the Brum date is on a Saturday.

Thanks - which side of Brum is it? It was going to take us an hour and half (subject to traffic) to drive there and the NEC is the first bit we hit - cant afford a hotel on top of that

Where will you be coming from stormfairy - let me know and I can give you details of most straightforward route.

..Final Chapter , my arse!!!

It's ten minutes walk at the most from New Street (if you walk out the right entrance!)
While the new venues and dates are a pain in the chuff for those already with tickets,it's much better for me. I was torn between Shefield (nearest) or Wembley (a Saturday) but Birmingham is just as easy for me as Sheff, and the O2 is directly across the road from my hotel of choice,The Radisson,so if the tour goes ahead,I'll be there.

we fall to rise

We hit Birmingham on the M6 from Coventry direction - hence the NEC being the easiest for us - takes us 1hr 30 on a good day (half is cross country)

would take us just as long to Sheffield too, plus thats a work night so a definate no go

Definately interested if its feasible - seen Wayne loads of times (love him ) and would love to see The Cult once - but not enough to go if The Mission dont support them

Hi there,

it all is confusing, but I stay calm ...

Live Nation does not sell London tickets anymore??? And I obviously don't want to buy a new ticket for Hammersmith, until I know if my Wembley ticket is valid or not.

Ticketmaster is advertising the gig without The Mish and Killing Joke???

However on the Stargreen website you find this: VENUE HAS BEEN MOVED FROM WEMBLEY ARENA TO HMV HAMMERSMITH APOLLO, TICKETS REMAIN VALID.

So maybe the tickets don't need to be exchanged after all.

See what George says on Wednesday.

'Tis easy then stormfairy. Come off M6 at junction 6 "Spaghetti Junction" - don't panic!, follow signs for City Centre A38M (also known as the Aston Expressway). This is only just about 1 mile long - follow it and stay in the middle lane. It leads seamlessly on to a flyover then a short underpass with a sharp L hand bend, then another longer underpass (Queensway tunnel), then out of that and onto another short underpass. (All of this is one continuous road.)The O2 academy is basicaly on top of this last underpass on the R hand side so as you come out of the underpass take any side road on the Left (cos it's a dual carriageway), park up either on the road or in one of the many small car parks around there and you're within a few mins walk of the venue.

A whole ball of confusion... Seems that whoever is behind this debacle , be it the Promoters or The Cult's 'people', this vertebral hand grenade that has been tossed into the mix and allowed to explode right on the eve of a four day bank holiday, has done nothing but cause even more anguish and resentment and I hope it wasn't premeditated that way.

The whole world and wife, knows that to garnish the best deals for travel, tickets, hotels..booking way in advance is the norm now. So, how often do you book the "refund / cancellation" option ? Ya don't , nine times out of ten, you trust the organisers of an event, that they won't renege on a deal and you book the 'Mega cheapo' option.

Announcing these changes, knowing full well that people cannot contact companies and speak to people personally until Wednesday is low. Do you book another train, hotel? buy another ticket now, in case the o2's sell out, will they even be selling them now or will they have to wait til ALL the current ticket holders get refunded their tickets and they get first priority or will they simply just open the flood gates to first come served and while your waiting for your refund. What if you buy a ticket..and the Mission have pulled out ?!!

I feel sorry for George, he's had his critics in the past, even me being one of them at times, but this has been thrust into his lap at the worst possible opportunity. Whilst his band ( and friends) are on the other side of the globe experiencing a whole new culture and experiences..he's having to ask a million and one questions that no one can answer, 'cos they too are 'out of the office' til Wednesday.

We can't blame George for any of this, it's a situation way out of his control and when it appears people are putting him even further down the totem pole of information, he's always going to be pissing in the wind when it comes to this tour. I can't see Killing Joke willing to play third fiddle for 30 minutes in venues they filled on their last tour and I wouldn't blame the Mission if they backed out of the 'smaller' venues for the very same reason.

:(

Keep the Faith..

In George We Trust !!! x

I must admit that I was thinking the same thing myself. .....surely the Mission must be tempted to just schedule some dates of their own in September? Half a dozen headlining dates in the bigger clubs/University circuit or O2 size venues has to be a goer?

The Cult/arena idea has obviously died a death, *so do the Mission still feel obliged to take the opening slot in smaller venues which would often be given to some unknown label mates of the headliners, who are just greatful for any audience

*Assuming that the Mission have still got an invite from the Cult to play at the smaller venues of course

Why on earth would it be premeditated? "Here, I've got a great idea. Let's book a tour in venues we can't possibly hope to fill, get everyone saying so and being a bit grumpy about it, then, when they've bought their tickets anyway, we'll cancel and change it to smaller venues. And - here's the best bit - we'll announce it on the Jubilee bank holiday weekend so they can't get any information and it'll erupt into chaos, bitterness and resentment! That'll be loads of fun, they'll all hate us, they won't come to the rescheduled concerts and we'll lose half our fanba- oh, hang on..."

Sure, be annoyed at the incompetence, the inconvenience, the poor customer service and all the rest of it but don't start dreaming up dumb conspiracy theories to get people even more riled up.

At the end of the day its not a great big hassle is it? Everyone will get money back or tickets exchanged and we are all going to see the Mish again (Hopefully) And it teaches everyone not to book hotels too early And flights can be changed Remember there are worse things happening in the world
