We are pleased to announce the upcoming release of the new Mission album. The album is entitled ‘The Brightest Light‘ and is produced by David M. Allen (The Cure, Depeche Mode, Human League). Recorded earlier this year the album marks the first time since 1989 that Wayne Hussey, Simon Hinkler, and Craig Adams have recorded together. The album is being released in Europe, including the UK, by SPV and is scheduled to hit the racks on Friday 20th September with the UK release date, and France where the album is being released by Verycords, slated for Monday 23rd. In North America the album is being released by The End label on Monday 17th, 2 days after the last show on the band’s upcoming US tour.
As well as the ‘normal’ CD version there will be a deluxe version available with a bonus CD of extra tracks as well as a lyric booklet. Also a double vinyl album as well as the now traditional digital release.
The final track listing, featuring 11 newly penned songs, is as follows:
1. Black Cat Bone
2. Everything But The Squeal
3. Sometimes The Brightest Light Comes From The Darkest Place
4. Born Under A Good Sign
5. The Girl In The Furskin Rug
6. When The Trap Clicks Shut Behind Us
7. Ain’t No Prayer In The Bible Can Save Me Now
8. Just Another Pawn In Your Game
9. From The Oyster Comes The Pearl
10. Swan Song
11. Litany For The Faithful
We received our ‘first’ review of the album very recently on the MWIS forum, posted by some-one called ‘Marks’, his very first posting on our forum (hope you don’t mind us using this, Marks). It reads :
“I received a copy from SPV for review earlier today around 9am PST, it’s now nearly 7pm PST and I’m still playing it. This is an intense record to put it mildly. I have never been much of a Mission fan (being old enough to take The Sisterhood personally) but this one WOW. Fucking WOW. Simon Hinkler was born to play in this band. The maturity of the songs, the nuances, the details! Jesus Christ, they’re no longer just a musical outfit they are shaman. Riveting. Easily the best thing they have ever done, four men who sat back and let the songs out to roam.
We’ll bring you news of a single release and an audio sampler for you to hear of the album along with details of where and how to order exclusive album pre-sales. Keep a look out!
One least thing, we’d like to bring your attention to a very recently internet published interview with our very own Wayne Hussey. It can be found here:
